Here in Forgottonia it rained from Friday through about noon yesterday; we got between 5 and 8 inches, depending on which report you read. The dogs are depressed and bored, and Timber has decided that wet wood chips are icky to walk on. Have you ever seen a 70-pound dog try to tip-toe?
My laptop, which is less than 2 years old, has decided not to load Windows. It looks as if I'm going to have to see if I can get into Start-Up and get it to start from the CD drive rather than the hard-drive, and if it does that I'll wind up running Recovery and lose a bunch of stuff. Most of it is not irreplaceable, thank goodness, but some of it is, and the rest will be time-consuming to reload. Of course, the warranty is long expired. It's such a mess when your computer crashes, because you can't trade it in like you can a car, and it's a lot more expensive to replace than a TV or VCR. (Well--hi-def, I guess that's pretty expensive. I've still got a plain ol' TV.)
I got started on a new baby sweater. I have mixed feelings about it already because I'm using Red Heart yarn, which is like knitting with steel-wool. And, once again, my gauge is wildly off despite using smaller needles, so I'm having to refigure all my stitch counts. On the other hand, I do think it's going to look pretty nice and it doesn't have any pockets to sew on. I'm using the original pattern colors (or close to--they used wool yarn), and I *like* that look, but I do wish I could have found a variegated in a pink-dominated baby-pastel. The local Walmart doesn't have a very good selection of yarn. ANYway, I got about 4" done on this little sweater yesterday (one good thing about the rain), about the place to split for the armholes, so it's making up fast and, as I say, I kind of like the way it looks. I can't post pictures because the PC won't recognize the camera and the laptop isn't working. (grrrr)
It's still overcast today, but it's not raining, and the sun is supposed to be out tomorrow. I hope so, and so do Taenzer and Timber!
