One of the first things Taenzer learned is that bringing me things gets her treats, praise, and attention, so she's always bringing me socks and shoes and t-shirts--always personal items--whatever I've left lying around. Apparently she's going through an anxious stage, though, because I've been coming home to find things I left in the bedroom out in the living room. Not chewed on, but she's carried them out there. (Yes, this worries me slightly--I hope her anxiety doesn't escalate.)
At any rate, this morning I had 2 houseshoes and 2 socks in the living room, so I thought I would give her a job and let her help me with the socks (one on the couch, one on the floor). I picked up the sock on the couch and asked her to get the sock on the floor. She grabbed a houseshoe. I told her, no, Taenzie, not the houseshoe, get the SOCK. She grabbed the other houseshoe. So I took it and thanked her and asked for the sock again. By this time she knew I didn't want the houseshoe but "sock" just wasn't happening in her brain and she was looking all over the living room, grabbing toys, pillows--everything but the sock.
Now Timber had been watching all this from the door. Timber has a nice retrieve, but he doesn't get to use it too often if Taenzer is around--that's HER job. But apparently this morning he just couldn't stand it any more, because at this point he came in, grabbed the sock, gave it a shake, and put it in my hand.
Very cute. Very smart. :)
