Goofball dogs and knitting

Tonight's dinner: tilapia fillet and Green Giant Healthy Weight Steamer (carrots, sugarsnap peas, green soybeans, and black beans). Yummy if you like fish and veggies.

My goofball dogs. This morning I pulled out of the driveway and came up the street beside the house to this volley of barks. As far as I can tell, they're barking just to hear themselves bark and figure they're safe because Mom's gone! So I backed up a few feet to bring me even with the windows, rolled down the passenger window of the van, and shouted "YOU GUYS HUSH UP!!!"

Silence. These two little faces appear in the windows, like, "Mom? Is she here? Where is she?"

Sheesh. I hate dogs that bark for recreation (for instance, someone down the street has two or three small squeaky dogs that can bark for an hour straight). I hate to think mine are rattling windows all over the neighborhood while I'm at work.

OTN: this very cute tweedy baby coat (from Vogue Knitting Baby Knits, pp. 27-29). Finished the body and front bands last night, and will finish the collar and start on a sleeve tonight. I found a Red Heart yarn that was very close to the original Brown Sheep color, and I'm very happy with the way it looks.

Also, started two nights ago a top-down baby sweater from a pattern my sister sent me the link to. The original sweater uses organic naturally-colored cotton; I'm using Red Heart in sage, winter white, rose, and a variegated (sage, winter white, rose, and milk-chocolate brown). I'm nearly finished with the body, so I can start the sleeves on that tomorrow. It's my outdoor knitting project, so I may actually finish it this weekend since it's supposed to be nice and I expect to take the dogs out 3 or 4 hours each day. It has a single-button closure, and I found a great sort of Op-Art button in the right colors.

Next week I can tackle hats and booties for both sweaters. Next I might tackle a sweater/bonnet/bootie set in the feather-and-fan pattern, in pale pink, something really girl-baby-ish.
