Labor Day Weekend

I think I may have to kill my boss--his twin girls gave him the sore throat virus they had, and he obligingly passed it on to me. At least, I think that's what's happening. My throat isn't exactly sore, but it's scratchy and dry. I feel just on the verge of getting sick.

I'm hoping to get a picture of the Baby Poonam body up before the weekend is over--I think I'll finish it tomorrow. I might have finished it today but I realized I'd done two repeats of one of the cable patterns every 4 rows instead of every 8 rows. I didn't rip the entire 4 rows out, just the cable bits, but it took a little while to get them fixed. Thank goodness for crochet hooks!

Taenzer was so cute tonight--we'd gone out to the dog pen, and while I was taking Timber's lead off, Taenzer ran off to her ball. So I called her to come back so I could take her lead off, and she did--sort of skipping, it was so cute!--and about two body-lengths away she turned around so she could watch her ball and make sure it didn't disappear, and backed up the rest of the way, as nice and straight a back as you'd ever want to see. Such a funny girl she is.

NPR was talking about summer picnics today, and Garrison Keillor was at the Minnesota State Fair. Together that got me feeling a little melancholy and wistful, remembering summer picnics with my family and going to the Illinois State Fair with my sister.

I washed my favorite sweater today, the grey Lopi one. I love that sweater, but I need to get some of those grip-strenthening squeezers--I'm not sure I got it as clean as possible because my grip gave out with all the squeezing and scrunching. It's lying out on towels on the front porch right now to get dry. I'll have to do the light-colored one with the black and chestnut trim sometime before it gets cold. They're the only ones I handwash in the tub; all my other handknits I throw in the washer.

I'm looking forward to having the next couple of days off--last week was a l-o-n-g week.
