Ack, I'm sick. Cough, sore throat, upset stomach. Think I'll stay home tomorrow. I don't think it's my boss's kids' virus--he said that was a 72-hour deal, and this has been hanging around and getting worse since Thursday, so I expect it's just your garden-variety cold. I'm probably not contagious, but I'd rather stay home and nap for a day or two than go drag myself around at work and feel rotten for a week.
As predicted, I finished the body of the Poonam sweater yesterday and got started on one of the sleeves. I decided to use the side cable--the one that frames the main cable panel--down the middle of the sleeve, and I think that's going to work out all right. I've got a zillion buttons, and am hoping I can find 3 that match and fit the buttonholes. I wish we had somewhere to buy buttons besides Walmart--I found a really really cute Beatrix Potter button that would be adorable on this sweater if I only had two more (there used to be a nice quilt store that sold buttons, years ago. I think it's a sports bar now...).
You remember the socks I made for my friend's father who'd had a stroke? Spiral-rib tube socks out of Alpaca Sox yarn? Her brother sent me a picture of him wearing the socks, and I was delighted to see that they were long enough! They not only cover his ankles but go well up his calves, so no drafts can go up his pant legs. I hope he likes them and that they're holding up well.
