They love him at the vets office because he's so calm and sweet and easy to handle, and said that during a couple of late-night emergencies he just kind of kicked back and watched it all with great interest but no apparent alarm.
He apparently was not at all traumatized by his night at the vet and in fact, when we went past the van to go to the dog yard an hour ago he was all for getting into the van and going somewhere. He did one lap around the dog yard, then laid and c hewed on his jolly ball and watched Taenzer do her thing, got up a couple of times to check on pedestrian passers-by, charged a few robins (must keep evil robins out of yard!), and is currently lying at his leisure in Taenzer's crate. He didn't eat at the vet's, so hopefully he'll eat his dinner tonight, and I'll consider him on the mend for sure.
Nothing on the bill is outrageous in itself, but added up altogether, it's $446. *sigh* And as I was driving home last night, and confirmed this morning, it sounds like the van's blown its muffler again. Guess I'll get that taken care of next week (that goes on a credit card).
I took Taenzer for a walk last night, which we both enjoyed, and she greeted a couple of people fairly politely (if I could just get her to stop shoving her nose into people's crotches--I know it's a doggy habit, but it's rude by human standards!), which I liked--she needs to meet more people. We had a good time, and I wish I could do it more often--with just one dog--which I could, except my knees are KILLING me this morning. (Yes, I've taken some aspirin. Hasn't helped so far.)
Anyway, I'm very happy to have my boy home, even if he's being blase about it.
"Gee, Mom, I'm so happy to be home I can hardly stand it."

Oh, this look! I'm happy he's home again. Good boy. Yeah, the vet bills are always high, that's for sure. Darn thing about the muffler!
Wow, I just stopped by your blog--I'm so glad that Timber is OK! I wonder what it was. Yes, those vet bills are SO high. I remember when a kitty check up was about $40. No longer . . .
And your garden looks wonderful. Hope you can get out and enjoy it this week.
