Please think good thoughts for my Timber

I noticed yesterday that he wasn't himself at all. He didn't have a good night, and today he didn't seem to be feeling any better, so I called first thing in the morning to get a vet appt. for him. By the time I got him in at 2:00, he had a temperature of 106, which is high enough to cause seizures (didn't, thank goodness). Vet doesn't really know what the problem is, but he's spending the night there so they can try to bring his fever down and start him on broad-spectrum antibiotics and anti-inflammatories.

The thing that worries me (as a card-carrying PPO--that's "Paranoid Puppy-Owner") is that he's a bit anemic, his platelet level is low, and his white cell count is very low. The vet kept saying "This is just a snapshot in time. Let's get his fever down and see if the antibiotics help, and then we'll retest in two or three weeks." Of course, we were both thinking cancer and autoimmune disease. My honey boy.

Taenzer misses him. She was pacing and whining and finally I said, "Do you miss Timber?" Her face lit up, so I said, "Where is Timber?" and she went trotting off to the bedroom where he spends a lot of his time. So I had to call her back and tell her "Timber's all gone, sweetie, Timber's all gone for tonight, but we'll see him tomorrow, okay?" Big sigh from Taenzer.

Big sigh from Mom.
