goslings

Forgot to put this in earlier:

I had seen a single Canada goose out on the pond in front of the building where I work. I didn't realize that there were actually two geese, and a nest! until the local public radio station published a picture on their home page of the proud parents and three little goslings floating around. They waited to come out until all the students left.

Apparently the parents also have the work schedule down. I'm cat sitting, so as I passed the pond on my way home, about 20 minutes later, there was the family out on the grass (do geese really eat grass??).

Canada geese hang out at the local park pond every fall and spring, sometimes fairly good-sized flocks--say 20 or 30--and leave goosepoop all over the grass at the edges of the pond, but this is the first time I've seen geese on the pond at work or fluffy little babies.

Maybe I can get a picture over the weekend.
