The eloquent Miss Austen

From a letter to her sister Cassandra, 8 January 1799:

"My Gown is made very much like my blue one, which you always told me sat very well, with only these variations;--the sleeves are short, the wrap fuller, the apron comes over it, & a band of the same completes the whole.--" (Jane Austen's Letters, ed. Dierdre Le Faye, Oxford UP 1995, p. 33).

"A band of the same completes the whole"?

I suppose it makes sense if you've seen the Gown...
