I had mean to write a nice post about a lace project I'm about to start. Today at noon I wound a beautiful ball of suri lace-weight. This afternoon, I read on one of the knitting lists about winding the ball twice, to "let the yarn relax." So I came home and put one end of the beautiful ball in the ball winder and started winding, and wound up with this:

Yeah, that took a while to untangle, and I wound up having to cut part off, which did not make me happy. And my beautiful ball became this misshapen lumpy egg-shaped thing.
The person whose plants I took care of hasn't paid me yet. I'm halfway concerned--did she not return safely?--and halfway really annoyed--if she'd paid me I'd have had something for dinner besides bread and peanut butter (not very satisfying, as dinners go).
It took me one hour and 45 minutes to get this stupid computer to turn on, load up, and download pictures off my camera. Yes, many, many bad words filled the air (not helped by the fact that I was also untangling yarn while doing battle with the computer). Do not ever buy a Dell computer. Don't even let anyone give you one. Run away very very fast.
I got the puppy pen seeded two days ago:

The light patch is the straw matting. You can see some scraggly mini-patches of green grass; after I got the area under the straw seeded, I took the left-over seed and over-seeded the rest of the pen. It's been raining off and on every since, and last night I came home to find local birds happily scarfing up grass seed just as fast as they could. I hope that what escapes the birds doesn't rot in the rain, which is supposed to continue for the next week.
