Aren't they beautiful? And they smell like heaven, although it's not really warm enough for the scent to really fill the neighborhood (only in the 70s! In July!) I think I need 2 or 3 more clumps. John Scheepers has them 5 for $8.25. You can get them for less at other places, but Scheepers is one of the better American bulb sellers, I think (even if they don't give quite enough info about how much sun various plants require).
I've been trying to think where I could plant some other varieties of Oriental lily, including a dark red one called Chambertin and a white with yellow called Amazing and a couple of white with red or pink stripes that might look good in the same bed as the Asian lilies are in, and the Orientals could kick in after the Asians. Then finish up with tiger lilies and L. speciosum rubrum and album. Yay, lilies.
Re knitting: a friend sent me a blood pressure monitor she no longer uses (thanks, Jennifer!). It's very easy to use, slide your arm through the cuff and press down the velcro, put your arm on a table, and press "Start." It's got a nice big digital read-out, so all you have to do is sit there and let it do its thing. It's like a new toy, so I came home at noon today and took my pressure, and it was 141 over something or other. Ate my lunch, loved on the dogs, knitted for about 15 minutes, and then took my pressure again. 128 over something. Conclusion: work is bad for me, knitting is good!
Oh, I would like to direct your attention to Monika's Smokin' Hot Needles blog (link on the right, under Favorite Blogs) to see pictures of her mega-adorable new white German Shepherd puppy, aptly named Happy. Very high "awwwwww" quotient. Snuggy-huggles, little Happy-boy! (Good thing Taenzer doesn't know what I'm saying, or I'd have 65 pounds of very jealous dog in my lap. :)

Your Lilies are beautiful! I wish I could smell them!
I have a blood pressure measuring thing like that, needed it for my husband. On this one one has to hold the hand on the opposite shoulder above heart level. I like to check my BP from time to time, just to know it's still O.K. :o)
GS are not lap dogs normally, but today Happy was in my lap and didn't want to get off for a while, just played with my fingers and sat still, that was nice. :o)
Sweetie boy! I LOVE GSD puppies.
As for them not being lap dogs--shhhh! Don't tell Taenzer! *lol*
