A few pictures

This is what I see in the morning as I pause at the back door and say, "I love you both very much. I'll see you at lunch. You guys be good! I love you!"

And this is what I see when I step in the back door after work and sing out "Mommy's home!" (and I just barely got the picture taken before I got a big slurpy kiss from Ms. T, with Mr. Bright-Eyes looking on).

This is heuchera "Silver Scrolls" backlit by morning sun.

This is my garage with a test area of paint. Most paint places these days will let you buy inexpensive little samples, so when my friend was visiting last Friday, we stopped by the Sherwin William store and she helped me pick out a color. I slapped some on, not particularly carefully, last night.
Note the Asiatic lily blooming, here against a part that's still white:

And here with the green as a background. That's really why I want to paint it (well, and also so it doesn't look quite so shabby...), to make those lilies pop when they bloom. There are a bunch of pinks and creams and they just don't show up well against the white walls. So I do think the color change will help. Imagine it with dark green trim, too, like the lattice, rather than white.

But it's not quite the right color--it's a little too minty, and I want something leaning a little closer to grey, and a tad darker. Below, those dark squares in this picture aren't the result of a different shade of paint or a 2nd coat, it's the shade cast by the eaves. And I think that's more the actual color that I want. (Note that you can't even see the green when the sun shines directly on it.) Maybe not quite that dark, but darker than the sample currently is.

So, I think it's off to the paint store for another sample or two (maybe some dark green to try out the trim as well as a darker shade of body paint).
I just took my latest sock to the frog pond. The pattern pulls in quite a bit and I couldn't get it over my instep. So I ripped it out and rewound the ball, and plan to cast on with 82 stitches instead of 62. If I decide the foot needs to be snugger, I can always decrease until I'm happy with the fit. But I did like the looks of the pattern, so I'm eager to give it another shot.
The lacey jacket proceeds apace, too. Not rapidly, but I do work 4 or 5 rows every night. I have about 3 inches to go before I shape the shoulders. Then sleeves, front bands, and the neck band. I think I'll get it finished by July!

Your two furry babies are so cute! I like the green you have slapped on. Can't wait to see what you decide in the end.
