MLK Day

I have the day off, but I got tagged to go in and let a couple of people into the chair's office to make a conference call for a position interview. I think I'll take my laptop in and use the wireless connection to do my taxes--one good thing about being poor is you can use the 1040-EZ form,-- maybe download a different genealogy program, and print out the picture of Taenzer and Timber sitting up, which is currently my favorite picture.

Then I think I'll go out to K-Mart and try on bras. One of my goals this year is to find the perfect bra--comfortable, supportive, up-lifting, and, if possible, pretty. None of the bras I have right now--a Bali, a Vanity Fair, and a Fruit of the Loom--meet all these criteria.

The Vanity Fair is insanely comfortable, but it's not the right size, so I'm going to try on some different sizes and then order what I think is the right size from somewhere online--the style of Vanity Fair bra I have is on sale at several places. Of course, it's not available here in town.

I forgot when I ordered the Bali that Balis don't really fit me--we're not made the same way--so whenever I have it on I'm always yanking at straps on the band in back. Pretty bra, but it just doesn't work for me.

The Fruit of the Loom is a nice bra--an underwire with a stretch cotton cup--very affordable, and locally available (WalMart), but the stretch cotton doesn't give as much lift and support as I now want. Also, I don't think it's the right size now, either; hence the trip to try on different sizes and try to determine what my current size is.

In my bra research I've found bras for as much as $100. !!! I didn't know they made "real" everyday bras that expensive. I don't think I've ever paid more than $30 for a bra, but now that I need some serious support and shaping, I'm thinking I'd like to try one in the $50-$60 range, see if there's really a difference. I've seen some of them deeply discounted but they're usually on clearance and can't be returned if they're the wrong size.

I'm wondering whether short rowing would help get the collar on the shawl-collared sweater to look like the picture... I'll probably experiment with that once I get home.

Off to open the office...

I *hate* shopping for bras. And I hate it when you find one you like and they suddenly stop making it . . . so you have to shop for a bra again

Good luck!

Of course K-Mart didn't have the size I wanted to try, but I was able to verify, more or less, the band size, and then ordered 3 different style bras in the new size. We'll see how they fit... Better than what I'm currently wearing, I hope!
