It's snowing this morning. I don't remember hearing anything about snow in the forecast. It had mostly melted off by Friday, when the temps went down and froze whatever was left into a glaze of ice. There's probably an inch or two out there, and it's still coming down. Oh well. Guess I wasn't paying attention. I do like snow (in moderation)--it covers a multitude of sins and makes everything look beautiful.
I'm glad I didn't procrastinate about going out for groceries, though.
Report on Timber: He seems to be fine. One of the possible causes for bloat may be bad food--"bottom of the bag syndrome." I was between orders on their regular food and had been feeding them from a back-up bag that I thought I had sealed well, but I think this particular brand has chicken fat in it, so it's entirely possible it went rancid. Taenzer had diarrhea off and on all last week. Duh, Mom. So since the new bag of their regular food came Thursday, I tossed the old stuff, and I hope everyone will be fine now. My little honey-boy--I combed him and hugged him and fussed over him yesterday, and this apparently fortified his ego--he took the choice place on the pillow by my head last night at bedtime and was still there this morning, despite Taenzer sending him all kinds of signals that she thought this was inappropriate (which was pretty funny--poor girl!). And this morning he was the one who gave me kisses while I was waking up. Have I mentioned that I adore that dog?
Report on the shawl-collared sweater: I finally got the collar done to my partial satisfaction. So I immediately started redoing the sleeves, which were just huge and bulky. And it finally dawned on me that this sweater I've been wanting to be an indoor at-work sweater is determined to be an outdoor sweater. Which I don't want, at least in this style. So NOW what am I going to do??
Well--I think what I'm going to do for the time being is put it aside while I think it over, and meanwhile cast on a sock--I think I've got some Mountain Colors Bearfoot that would work up fast in a plain 2x2 rib.
I think, btw, that I have enough of the yarn I'm making the shawl-collared sweater with to make another whole sweater, using the yarn in a single instead of double strand. It's a really nice yarn. Not a next-to-the-skin yarn but sturdy, uncomplaining, and well-behaved; it's stood up to all this frogging and re-knitting without a whimper. I think it would make a good aran-style sweater.
