Happy New Year!

I hope 2009 is a GOOD year for everyone.

I'm looking forward to a visit from the older of my two brothers tomorrow and my sister the day after. I'm really looking forward to seeing them! I surely do wish I had a vehicle I could leave town in, so I could go visiting myself. I hope Taenzer and Timber will settle quickly after their initial hysteria over the presence of a visitor. I would particularly like someone else to see Timber be his sweet and adorable self.

I got into a really bad habit during the aftermath of the ice storm. Since I was expecting to lose power, at least for a while, I was leaving the heat turned up to day-time levels, under the probably fuzzy idea that if the house started warm it would take it longer to get cold. It was really nice to be warm in the morning. I've started turning it back down at night, and it takes several hours to warm up. But it does save money, I think.

I finished the little cardigan I'm going to have to steam-block, and started right away on another one:

I'm using a double strand of a nice 100% wool, Austermann Naturwolle, in a kind of oatmeal color. Small problem, though: I can't find my size 11 circs! Argh!! I've looked everywhere I can think of, but so far no luck. So once I get the waist ribbing done, I'm in trouble. We do have a teeny-tiny craft store, so I might go see if they happen to have any size 11s when they open tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I suppose I should vacuum and do dishes and generally try to tidy the place up just a tad.

Will you show your finished cardigan?

The new project looks beautiful! Have fun with your brother.

If I can get it to lie flat. I haven't taken the steam iron to it yet, and the fronts are rolled up into tubes.
