As I write, I hear the tapping of little ice-drops against the windows. Oh yay. Well, I got to the store and got soup, batteries, and water; I already had 3 bags of ice-melting salt for the steps and sidewalk.
A friend gave me a couple of rolls of rope-caulk for the windows, so I spent a couple of hours the other night caulking things up in the living room. I think it helped a little; it doesn't seem quite so drafty in here.
Another friend brought her dog in to visit at work today. Pippi is said to be half German Shepherd and half standard poodle, but she looks way more poodle than GSD. I puppy-sat for her a couple of times after Stella died, so she's kind of my special girl, and we were THRILLED to see each other. She remembered where my office is and dragged her mom down the hall to get there, and for a minute we were afraid she was going to leap onto the desk to get to me. *lol* I sat down on the floor and she threw herself into my lap (all 75 pounds or so of her!) and we hugged and smooched and just generally celebrated. One interesting thing--she makes good eye-contact with her mom, but despite her clearly remembering me and being glad to see me, she never made eye contact with me. Weird. But it was still a very wonderful reunion. Nothing cheers me up like a visit from someone's dog, and having it be Pippi made it extra-special.
