Well, for the time being, I have power and dial-up. I got next to no sleep last night, with things falling all night long. I thought, from all the noise, that I wouldn't even be able to get out of the house this morning, but apparently tree pieces coated with lots of ice make a lot of noise hitting other tree pieces coated with lots of ice as they fall outside your bedroom window, and make a great hollow thump when they hit ice-coated snow. There's also that disconcerting thunk they make when they hit the roof. Taenzer barked at everything, and poor Timber went from one room to another, looking for a place where he felt safe. I'm more at the Timber end than the Taenzer end--major anxiety attack going on here, with shortness of breath and shaky hands. Wish I had a xanax or something.
However, although it turned out not to be as bad as I envisioned, it's a pretty big mess out there, as you can see.
Ice-coated wires and branches. Those branches on the very left of the photo are usually way over my head; I could touch them now if I wanted to skate over there.
From the front porch, looking southeast.

Looking down the front walk:

This one's scary--it looks like the wire is holding up the top of the spruce tree that's bent completely over. I'm waiting for it to take out power to the neighborhood... I think you can see on the branches how thick the ice is.

It's fairly warm out right now so maybe some of this will melt off before the wind picks up. Thank goodness there was no wind last night, or I would have had a really serious mess!
