Can I PLEASE catch a break?

Another piece of the tree that took out the phone wires earlier this year came down last night. Why, I don't know; we had a storm about 5:00 Sunday morning (I was having trouble sleeping, so I got up, put the van in the garage, closed windows, etc.), with thunder and lightning and wind, but the tree didn't come down then--the dogs and i were out in the dog pen twice yesterday.

But this morning when I came out, there's the dog pen full of branches. It brought down two smaller trees with it, and I bet it squashed my swing. I've e-mailed the guy who took it out (sort of) last time to see if he can deal with this or if I need to look for someone else. There goes another $300 or so out the door, and I need to get food and heartworm meds for the dogs and gas up the van, and I'm trying SO hard not to use my credit cards. *sigh*

At least it missed the phone wires this time. And with all that foliage down, maybe I'll be able to get some grass growing in the bare spots next spring.

And it's supposed to be just stinky-hot today--heat index around 110 (that's 43 celsius, Monika). But just for today--temps are supposed to drop the rest of the week. I wish we had a place in town that would accept dogs--it would be sooooooooo much easier to just check the three of us into a motel room for the night than to put in a window AC unit for today and take it out tomorrow. Plus I could enjoy a real shower and watch TV--major indulgences! (My bathroom doesn't have a shower--I sit in the tub and use one of those rubber hose dealies.)

Well, at least we'll have some air conditioning. I wouldn't bother with the AC at all except that I'm afraid Timber will have heat stroke without it. I've got the drapes drawn in the living room to keep the sun out, and fans going for them this morning; I'll put the AC in the bedroom when I go home for lunch (because Timber won't come out into the living room if I put it in there).

Mornings like this, when it's so horribly hot and humid, that dumb Annie used to lie in one of the east windows. I was always surprised her brains didn't boil. Cats are such weird little critters.

Argh, I'm sorry it's always you, who dosen't catch a break! Argh, also - that's hot, hot, hot!
I just washed a carpet rug from the hallway in the back yard. Would have loved to hose me down as well. Thanks for translating the Fahrenheit into C for me. That helps a lot! ;o)
