Garden

I've been trying for the past two days to post pictures of my garden, and Blogger isn't having any of it. I'll try again tonight--it's looking very nice. I'm afraid my garden is largely a spring/early summer garden, though I've got enough greenery in it that it looks okay later on. Anyway, the daffodils particularly look nice this year, and the European ginger is turning up in unexpected places, which makes me happy, and the roses and clematis are leafing out--very exciting. Now if the sweet pea and morning glory seeds would just sprout! Every evening I peer into my newspaper cups to see if there are any little green bits--so far nothing. *sigh*

With all the rain we're getting, I wonder if I should spend an evening cutting wayward vinca pieces and sticking them into the ground--that's all you have to do; they root like magic. I'd like to have some on the north side of the house, and a few other places...

I need to get some annuals--some pink wave petunias for the raised bed by the driveway and something blue to go between the magenta spiderwort and red/gold columbine--heliotrope, maybe--and some silver artemesia to put at the foot of the birdbath. Maybe another pink wave petunia and more heliotrope, or, even better, a couple of strobilanthes to put in front of the corner garden out in front. (I also need to get a new white rose for that bed.) It's pushing it a bit, since I don't know what the new sun patterns are going to be, but I thought I might try a couple of yellow climbing roses over by the garage--maybe without the trees to the west they'll get enough sun to do well. Also a new little yew to replace the one that got squashed when the tree fell on it.

I may also try some containers this year, based on some White Flower Farm has put together (http://www.whiteflowerfarm.com/annual-combinations.html). They have some exciting ones for shade, as well as the usual ones for sun.
