Another inspired title. Sorry about that. It's hard when I have several things on my mind...
I was going to post sock pictures--I took the camera into work and downloaded the pictures onto my work computer, then copied them to the travel drive, then moved them from the travel drive to the stupid desktop here at home--and then it turned out that two of them were out of focus and on the other two the color was way way off. It's supposed to be sunny tomorrow, so I'll try it again. These really are going to be very pretty socks.
I was looking at the Socks of the Month at Red Bird Knits and, besides wanting ALL of them (my sister and I have been wondering if it's possible to get previous ones), it occurred to me that one could get obsessive about socks. They're (relatively) cheap, they're small and quick to do, and they're so versatile that you could make a million pairs of socks and never make the same pair twice. There just has to be a way to knit faster!
Poor Timber--he saw me bring the laptop into the bedroom and got very anxious--he hates this laptop--and practically climbed into my lap to try to keep me from turning it on. Very un-Timber-like. I massaged his neck, chest, and shoulders--which I find both soothing and amusing, since after a few minutes, if I'm doing it right, he starts groaning, and after a few minutes more he collapses like a dynamited building. But eventually I turned the computer on and he left the room.
The ceiling light bulb is out, and I can't reach it to change it. In the past, the way the room was set up, I could bring in a small step ladder and get it that way, but the way the room is set up now, the only way to reach the light fixture is to stand on the bed, and I'm not quite tall enough to reach it. I'll have to find a 6-footer who's reasonably steady on his feet to do it for me.
The PT is helping my knees, it really is, but stairs still are a problem, so I was looking at inexpensive single-story houses in the area on line today. I saw one that looks kind of nice, but I drove by, and the "fenced yard" is more like a dog run--it's chain link that runs not quite the length of the back yard and is about 6-feet wide. What's up with that?? Very weird. Another one looks slightly larger (just slightly--I'm pretty sure they're both under 1000 sq.ft), and has a nook for the washer and dryer in the kitchen! Yesss! The neighborhood must be a little nicer, too; the taxes are higher. :-P Not that I can really seriously think about moving. But the basement steps are a real problem. I wonder if I can afford to have a new set of steps built, that weren't so steep. I really do have to get down there so I can do the laundry!
Well, enough burbling. I think I'm going to put Taenzer's new tunnels out tomorrow; that will make her very happy. It's supposed to be nice this weekend--maybe I can sit out and work on my socks while they play. And I'll try again to get a sock picture up.
