Buried steps:
I'm not completely sure I'm ready for another cat yet, but I'm at the stage where I'm sort of browsing. There are two locally that might work. Someone is trying to rehome a neutered, declawed 8-month-old male who showed up at their house--who in their right mind would let a declawed cat outside???? He's a grey tiger short-hair with a lot of white. I've been thinking a boisterous boy cat would be good for the Ts, but I'm a little worried about the cat being declawed. The Ts were always good with Annie, but I'd like the cat to be able to enforce it if he disapproves of the dogs' method of play.
The other one's at the county animal shelter:
I love tortie kitties--they're so interesting and decorative. This one is about a year old, has a very pretty face. and doesn't look as freaked out as they so often do. I'm sort of unofficially banned from the animal shelter--I cry whenever I go in there; not a very useful reaction, but the dogs break my heart. So a friend who volunteers out there said she would check this kitty out next time she's out there and see if she might be a cat the Ts and I might like.
They're both a nice age, old enough to have a little bit of sense, but young enough to be able to adapt to and, I hope, be interested in playing with the Ts--and I also hope, to learn to snuggle on laps. We'll see what happens. They say you get the animal you need, and I believe that the right one comes to you when you're ready.

I like that.
We still don't know about Biko. She's get an MRI done next week, but from what I've been reading etc. I think she'll need surgery. More once I know more. :o(
Keep me posted about Biko. When's her MRI? {{{hugs}}} to both of you!
Although I feel for the poor stray, I don't recommend introducing a declawed kitty into any home with large dogs. It's just not fair.
