(Ewwwww--I just pried the left shift key off my keyboard because the capital T wasn't working, and boy was it gross and disgusting under there. Prolly ought to pry all the keys off--one at a time, of course--and clean under them.)
Ahem. At any rate. Timber's come with me the past couple of times I had to pick up Annie's meds from the vet, so today it only seemed fair to take Taenzer. She and I haven't been anywhere together alone for quite some time, and I like to take them in to the vet's office without having to actually see the vet so they get the idea that going to the vet isn't always a scary awful thing. I was really surprised at how--hm--what word do I want?--cautious she was with people who wanted to pet her. There were two girls up front, and the phones were ringing like crazy, and there were two women also waiting, and they wanted to visit with Ms. T and she went up and sniffed their hands, but she wasn't going to allow any petting, thank you very much. I forgot to take treats with me. She was fine, she behaved very nicely, and even held a sit-stay while I was writing the check with just one reminder, my good girl.
It's really kind of nice to be out with just one T--besides just the logistics of handling the two of them, I can really pay attention to whichever one is with me, really focus and see their body language and interact with them much more intimately than when I've got both of them skittering around on the ends of their leashes. Also, they pay more attention to me. Just one of the facts of life when you have two Ts instead of just one. And in this particular case, Taenzer was much more aware of me than Timber ever is when we're out together. Which was kinda nice, actually. Reminded me of her great-aunt Stella.
Today I've worked on 3 pairs of socks. Ain't knitting wonderful? There's the puppy pen sock and the living room sock--working on the feet of both of them--and there's the bedroom sock. You might remember I started the Lemonade sock a couple of months ago, then got distracted by the sock yarn club yarn. Well, this morning I woke up--as in Woke Up--at 4, so I took the Ts out to potty, then turned on the light and picked up my neglected Lemonade sock and finished the leg and started on the heel flap until I got sleepy enough to go back to sleep. I don't mind waking up at 3 or 4 when I know I don't have to be at work by 8.
That Apple Laine yarn is sure nice to work with (wool, mohair, and silk), and it's a fun pattern. I kind of think I might take it on down the top of the foot. Also, I'm using size 1 needles with it (I think), which seem ridiculously much bigger than the 0s I'm using for the other two pair or the 00s for my temporarily-abandoned Cannon Beach socks. Can't wait to finish them and wear them to work (I think I say that about all my socks, though!).
