Annie

Annie had diarrhea again over the weekend and hardly ate at all. She's so thin and seemed very unsteady and weak--but not at all like she was getting ready to cross the Bridge. I, of course, was, shall we say, extremely concerned. I know how to handle diarrhea in dogs, but it's a lot harder with cats--for instance, how do you figure a dose of immodium for a 7-pound cat? And diarrhea in cats can be a side-symptom of so many other things. She's been coughing up some pretty impressive hairballs lately, so of course I started worrying that she might have a blockage (and diarrhea can be a symptom of that).

But she'd been off her thyroid meds for about 5 days (and diarrhea can be a symptom of wonky thyroid), because I'd had to wait until payday to refill. I'm hoping that now she's back on them she'll start to pick up again. She ate most of a can of Fancy Feast last night, and when she came out of the cat room this morning she seemed spryer and more like herself, so maybe...

There's an on-line store called Waggin' Tails that specializes in non-grocery-store foods, and has a lot of organic and grain-free stuff. I'm thinking of ordering like one can of everything to see if there's anything she might particularly like. She likes Fancy Feast, but if you go to www.petfooddirect.com and start reading the ingredients, they're pretty scary--and that fancy new stuff in the green cans is just as bad. I'd rather have her eating something a little healthier if I can find something she'll eat.

Annie-bannannie. Be okay, little kitty-girl.
