Garden update

Isn't that pretty? Really spring!

Besides the GRASS in the puppy pen, about 3 of the roses--all David Austen roses, btw--seem to have made it through the winter.

I'm still holding my breath about the other 4. The three that are leafing out need some serious pruning--lots of deadwood. The clematis are all happy, waving long sprouts around until I get them woven into place.

Got astilbe chinensis pumila and dwarf goatsbeard (love that stuff--so soft and feathery!). Columbine. Columbine volunteers all over the place. I'll be interested to see what colors they are. They may get themselves transplanted.

The bearded iris is coming on strong, and the Siberian iris is coming along. Daylilies coming up,

The vinca is blooming its head off--seems early for that. The lamium is doing pretty well, and some of it has jumped the sidewalk, which is fine with me.

No sign of any of the hostas yet. Bluebells are up (yay!) beside the dicentrum. I forgot I wanted to get some soft yellow tulips to grow near them--that was a combination I had one year and it was so pretty. Guess I should add that to my list--1000 crocus, 500 siberian squill, a couple of dozen bluebells, and a couple of dozen soft yellow tulips. Bluebells are expensive.

Asiatic lilies coming up, but haven't seen the Casa Blanca lilies yet. Need to check and see if the white astilbe has made it or not. It wasn't too happy last year--since that one tree came down, it's been getting too much sun. It got pretty crispy last year.

You can't really tell what's here, but there are chionodoxa there in the front; blue, pink, and white hyacinths back by the house, and the yellow blob is a couple of daffodils.

Front yard has a bumper crop of dandelions. Some day I'll do something about it. Not sure what.
Peonies coming up.
