Nice things happen

I took the car in for an oil change today, and asked them if they could fish out the dpn I'd managed to lodge between the central console and the passenger seat--it's a very tight fit, and I hadn't been able to find anything long enough, thin enough, and strong enough to winkle it out. They did. I'm happy; now I can work on my car-sock again.

There was a guy in the office when I went to pick it up, and the woman who runs the place asked him if he remembered who I was. There was a long pause while she gave me the bill and I wrote out the check, and then he suddenly said my name and said, "When you turned your head, I remembered your smiling eyes." What a nice thing to be remembered for! and very tactful whether it was true or not. (Note: I couldn't place him at all, and was too shy to ask him who he was. I think we went to the same high school, and I must say I remember my high school years as a nightmare I wouldn't care to relive, and don't recall being particularly smiley.)

And finally, a faculty member gave me some flowers this morning, just, she said, as a thank you for all the help I give her. What a nice surprise!

It's good that nice things happen too, not always negative ones. :o)
