It's not my fault she's so cute

I can't remember if it was the socknitter's list or the lace-knitting list where recently people were complaining about their cats and dogs chewing on their yarn and knitting needles.

Well.

Not only are my yarn and needles safe from the Wonderful Ts, but: I didn't wind this rayon boucle into a cake because it's so slinky, I knew it would collapse and tangle, so I wound it into a plain ol' ball. Just now it rolled off the couch and bounced across the floor, and instead of getting up and getting it myself, I asked Taenzer to bring it to me. Which she did. She picked it up gently, carried it over, and put it in my lap, nice and tidy (no drool). Of course she got treats and mega-hugs because

SHE'S JUST SO CUTE AND SMART!

I would love to post a little brag to whichever list it was, but I'm not an active list member, so I'll content myself with posting it here.

Awe, she really is!
I wish Happy were like that right now. He's always stealing some yarn or fiber, and runs off with it, haveing a great time doing it too. I'm not amused. O.K. just a little.

Taenzer was a VERY mouthy puppy, so I started right away to teach her about trading. When she would grab something, like puppies do, I never chased her, but coaxed her back toward me. Then when I could lay hands on whatever she had I would praise her like crazy and give her either a toy or a treat (and I keep a treat jar by the couch for special deliveries ;) When she was really little and active, like Happy, I kept a rope toy and would trade whatever she had for the toy and then play a quick game of tug. When she got a little older, we worked on an actual retrieve. She's the one who had the idea of bringing Mom her slippers (and shoes and socks and occasional t-shirt). I'd much rather have her bring things TO me and get a reward than have her take things off somewhere to chew on them.

Your Happy is such an adorable little guy! Please give him a big smooshy hug and kiss on the nose for me!
