The dogs get fed in the evening, and the time tends to vary with the time of year. Lately we've been eating around 5, and then after 90 minutes it's safe to let them out to play (at least, theoretically, the danger of bloat is less if you separate eating and exercising by an hour or more).
But with it getting darker earlier, I decided tonight that we would switch and start going out after I get home from work, then eating. That means they don't get to eat until 7, and they're both obviously wondering where the heck their dinner is.
So clever Taenzer trotted off into the bedroom and brought me a sock, since she gets a treat whenever she brings me something. "Okay," I said, "can you bring me the other one?"
Off she went, and came back with the matching sock. So I opened the jar of treats I keep by the couch and gave her a teeny-tiny little treat.
She swallowed it whole, looked at me, then picked up one of the socks, waved it in my face, and dropped it in my lap. Like, "Hello! That's it? I brought you TWO socks, remember?"
Funny, smart girl! (And yes, she got another treat. Another very tiny one. Also a big hug.)
