Troglodyte II

We made it through yesterday pretty well. That was partly because it was very breezy out yesterday, which helped keep it from being really stinky. Also partly because the house was cool, from all the cool weather we've been having, though it did heat up over the course of the day. It wasn't bad sleeping last night, either. Timber spent some time in the bathtub, which is so incredibly adorable--I come down the hall and this little head pops up from the tub. I'd give anything to get a photo of him there. Today looks like more of the same, but it's supposed to break tomorrow, I think, and bring some rain.

I finished the Ugly Shawl yesterday. It's ugly, all right, but it will be nice and warm to wrap up in, or drape over my legs, and working on it gave me something steady and calming to do during a time I really needed it.

Taenzer usually does my modelling, but she didn't want to stop playing with her ball, so Timber graciously agreed to fill in--as long as I hurried, since he thought the thing was hot.

Here are the pictures of the Elann samples I knitted up. This first one is Tahki Bali, a 100% bamboo ribbon. It's really soft and nice to work with.

This is Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk DK. Alpaca and silk is one of my favorite blends, and this stuff is seriously yummy.

Manos del Uruguay Cotton Stria 100% cotton. You can see it has a bit of texture and tone-on-tone hand-dyeing. And it's also very soft, a very nice yarn.

Knit One Crochet Too Pure Cashmere. Majorly drool-worthy. I love the color, it's a pleasure to work with, and the finished fabric is beyond soft. Only problem is that it's DK-weight and the skeins are only 88 yards, at a price of $7.98 USD/$9.26 CAD. For a sweater--well, you do the math. Elann suggests 8 skeins for a very plain sleeveless shell with a 40" bust. But if I had yarn money, I'd definitely be buying some of this!

I don't think the shawl is ugly at all. I quite like it. Timber is such a good boy! I like the flowers in the last sample picture.

Monika, thanks for the kind words on the shawl. You're so nice! And I've got to check your blog and see what your adorable Happy-boy is up to these days--I'm so behind!
