Yay, Mr. Timber!

He was SO good. He did get excited and bark, but mostly he was just very good.

We had to wait in the exam room, and he was very good--he sniffed around, sat in the door and watched the vet staff do things, came and asked me for a treat and did all his tricks--this is a biggy because in the past he's been too excited to eat--sat down and asked for a neck rub.

AND--fanfare, please--he downed when I asked him to and leaned over on his side so the vet could look at his tummy! What a good boy!

And he let me gently hold his mouth shut so she could listen to his heart, and didn't even notice when she took blood and gave him his shot.

She says he seems to be in fine shape except for his allergy symptoms. We're going to wait and see how he does. I'm hoping he won't get too bad, but their symptoms do tend to get worse as they get older, and my baby boy is all of five years old now.

He was on the scale when this huge German Shepherd came rocketing out of the back (kennel) area dragging a very petite vet tech behind him, and all Timber did was pitch his ears forward and put his head up. No freaking, no barking, no growling. The vet tech got the other dog turned around and he dragged her off the other way. He looked like he was about twice Timber's size! And, I would guess, not very old, maybe 2 or thereabouts. He had that enthusiastic adolescent look... Timber weighs 71 pounds, just about where he was this time last year.

I'm a very proud mom. What a sweet, good boy he is. I'm very lucky to have him.
