long day

Bleah. I took the day off today, but I put in a full day of work. I was running off some labels for a friend. Yeah, I know, that sounds easy, but first I had to download the Avery Wizard program--and on dial-up that takes an hour and a half--I watched The Civil War and worked on the baby sweater--by which time it was time for lunch--then I had to set up the printer and install the driver. Couldn't find the CD, so started downloading it, which was going to take two hours, so while it was downloading, I looked through all the software CDs again. Finally found it, got the driver installed, and then started typing in labels. When I ran off a test page, the print quality wasn't too great, so I had to run to Walgreens and get the black ink cartridge refilled. Then I finally got to the actual labels, which took, oh, an hour to do. Amazing how complicated easy things can get, isn't it? So here it is 4:30, just like I'd spent the day at work.

I was going to move the cream-colored asiatic lilies tonight but (a) I can't quite decide where to move them to and (b) it's HOT. Well, really, it's humid--the temp is only 84, but it feels like 90/32. So the lilies can stay where they are for the nonce.

The sweater is FINALLY almost done. I think I'll finish knitting the body tonight, and work on the matching booties tomorrow night, and sew the sweater up, knit on the collar, and do the matching hat over the weekend. Then I can go on to sweater #2.

And sometime in here I have to find time to read through this ms I'm "editing." This is going to be another learning experience--he's got it in Word in the edit mode, or whatever it's called--I've never used it. I'd rather print it all out and get out my trusty red Flair pen, but he says it's 350 pages long. Well, as long as I have the printer out and a cartridge full of fresh ink, maybe I'll print it out chapter by chapter. I was going to take tomorrow off and work on it, but my boss needs a report a day earlier than I thought, so I'll probably go in and take care of it tomorrow. If I get it done tomorrow, I can take Friday off.
