One way to do it

Timber's started snuggling on the couch with me after being outside again. I love it. He's such a snuggle-boy when he wants to. As I was running my fingers through his fur, I could feel little clumps that were just waiting to become mats. As I've said before, he HATES being groomed. So I groped around on the lamp table behind me until I found a knitting needle, then started carefully running it from his skin up to the top, over and over. It's no comb, but it did bring up a handful of undercoat after about 20 minutes. Hey, whatever works, right?

I would also like to announce that I've kitchenered the toes of 3 socks without having to look at the tutorial. :) I'm very proud of myself.

The lamp table mentioned above is rather terrifying--there's a skein of Opal and half a sock, a bag with the Tidal Wave sock and yarn, a bag with 3 small packages of black angora, a bag with 2 skeins of Phildar Top Secret, the alpaca lace sock, a small bowl of odds and ends (pen, nail clippers, yarn needle, highlighter, ring markers, beaded row counter, lip balm), 3 notebooks, a coffee mug, a container of dog treats, an organizer holding phone books, knitting journal, spare pens, and other paper-type stuff, a huge stack of genealogical print-outs, and my dinner. It's a bit much, even for me. I can see I'll have to try to thin the clutter sometime tomorrow.
