Anyway, while I was sitting there in the cool, dry(ish) bedroom last night, I couldn't resist. I cast on for the Lemonade sock using that gorgeous Apple Laine sock yarn in the Sweet Baby colorway. Boy howdy is that nice stuff. Only problem is I think I'm going to have to rip back and start again on a smaller size needle--it's a heftier yarn than Schaefer Anne, but it doesn't look like a dense enough fabric on size 1, so I'll have to go down to 0s. But it's really really really nice yarn. Really nice. Sure wish I could afford a few more skeins of this blend before the new one comes out. I want to make a vest to go over a white t-shirt.
Of course, I haven't forgotten that I have other socks in progress. Five others, in fact. This makes a total of six. Taenzer was kind enough to model them for me this morning (all except the Bayerische sock).
(Heehee! She was like "MOM!! What are you doing?? Putting things on my feet and exposing me to ridicule!" Okay, I was giggling, but just because she's so cute and so dear--she *let* me "put things on her feet" and stood there despite her humiliation while I took pictures. I tried to explain I wasn't laughing *at* her, I was laughing because she's so cute and makes me so happy, but I don't think she believed me.)
Okay, there on her left forefoot is a plain vanilla 2x2 ribbed sock out of Lang Jawoll Color, on size 0 Brittany needles. On the right forefoot is a basketweave-rib sock that (obviously) only needs the toe grafted; I made it on metal 0s, but I don't remember what the yarn is. It's a pretty sock, though, isn't it? It'll look great with jeans. On the right hind foot is the Cannon Beach sock, heel turned and gussets finished and on to the foot. You can't see the left hind foot in this shot.

Here she is from the other side, bless her heart, knitting needles sticking out everywhere. On her right hind foot is a completed sock in a heathered lavender alpaca with a lace rib which you can't see. These will be wear around the house only socks since I worked no reinforcement into the toes or heels--I just wanted some really warm socks for next winter. This qualifies for WIP because there's only one of them. I think the yarn is from KnitPicks and that I used size 1 needles. Maybe 2s. I can't find any notes for it in my knitting journal (which I need to update from this blog).

I thought about putting the Lemonade sock on her tail, but that seemed like too much, so I just layered it over the basketweave-rib sock.
Here's a few close-ups of the individual socks:

Current soundtrack: Kindred Spirits: A Tribute to the Songs of Johnny Cash - Dwight Yoakam, Rosanne Cash, Bob Dylan, Little Richard, Bruce Springsteen, Marty Stuart, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris--you bet there some's great music on this thing!

Lovely colourway, that lemonade...cool
What a cute model. My pups would eat a sock or run off. Oooh, I am down to one sock. Better caston
Terrific socks and what fantastic models you've employed. We all should be so lucky!
Thanks, ladies!
That Sweet Baby colorway is nice, isn't it? I probably wouldn't have bought it, though, if I hadn't seen it worked up in the Lemonade pattern (from Darlene at Northern Sunshine Designs. It's even better in person, though the pictures I got reproduce the color pretty well (for once).
Taenzer was the sole model for this shoot--she has a "stay"! Timber is too much the little boy to tolerate being dressed up or to stay still if he was. Taenzer's modeled scarves and sweaters for me as well as socks. She looks fabulous swathed in lace. :)
And yes, I feel very lucky to have them.
I can't believe she let you do this! There are even the needles in the socks and she's just standing there! What did you pribe her with? ;o)
The socks look terrific. Thank you for showing them to us.
Those are the cutest pictures. I think they would be cute framed and hung on a wall near my knitting stash for inspiration. Your socks are beautiful.
What a great idea and thanks for sharing.

LOL! What a good dog! I am amazed he let you do that and just stood there so patiently! Socks look great! Thanks for sharing!
I never thought of using a model with 4 legs! Great shot of your beautiful socks. Looking forward to the yellow colored one being done.
Monika, do you know that song: "I can't give you anything but love, baby. That's the only thing I've plenty of, baby." She's my good girl. I actually didn't think about the knitting needles until I saw the pictures. Poor dog! She *is* a good girl, and very patient.
Now, Timber? Liverwurst might work with Timber, but I'd have to have someone else in the house to dispense it while I was taking pictures, or I'd end up with broken Brittanys and lots of dropped stitches! (But you know what? He's a good boy, too. :)
