socks and dogs

Well, I'm at it again. Can I blame it on being a Gemini and having a short attention span? (I have more problems formatting this blog (many expletives deleted), and today it's completely refusing to double-space between paragraphs. Grrrrr.)

I couldn't stand it. I just had to see how my sister's sock yarn club yarn was going to work up, so--size 0 needles, 60 stitches cast on. No particular pattern in mind, just playing...

I worked about an inch in plain knit, then did a couple of rows of purl. Then I decided I'd try the Purl When You Can method, just because I've never tried it before.

(Once again, the colors are way too bright. I usually get pretty good results with natural light, but for some reason I can't get the colors to reproduce properly.)

I think this would make great plain vanilla guy's socks--you know, a couple of inchese of 2x2 ribbing at the top, plain stocking stitch the rest of the way. It makes these great little pin stripes in stocking stitch. But I kind of like the results of Purl When You Can.

I didn't think the 0s would make a firm enough fabric, but it seems to be making up just fine (thank goodness).

Yes, you're right, this makes six pairs of socks "in progress."

Topic Two: It's common to hear German Shepherd people (or at least the ones I know) say: "Yesterday I combed a Pomeranian out of my dog." Actually, probably anyone who owns a dog with a double coat says the same thing.

But just to show you what they're talking about--here's Annie with a "new friend"--this is what I combed out of half of Taenzer last night.

It's hilarious how Annie's cuddling up to the fiber! ;o) Yeah, I get that too out of Sam, Biko not so much, maybe a brush full.

It was just so funny how the evening's combings were practically the same size as Annie. :)

Here's the scary thing: that was out of Taenzer. Taenzer doesn't have near as much coat as Timber. If I could get him to hold still for a thorough combing, I wouldn't have a Pomeranian, I'd have an entire new German Shepherd! *lol*
