knitting!

Well, it is called "Knittin' with the Ts." It just seems to be mostly about Ts lately, BUT--I have been working on a project, which is actually not either of the projects I was working on before I hurt my eye.

This is a baby jacket for my nephew due in August. I found a basic pattern, did a lot of math, and this is the result. It's for a 2-year-old (more or less).

As usual, the color is a bit off--this camera almost always makes colors too harsh and bright indoors. My sister thought the color was too girly, so to try to make it look more boy-ly, I'm going to do the sleeves in that dark, bright blue. Trouble is that the blue yarn isn't nearly as soft and luscious as the hand-paint. Maybe if I put some hair conditioner in the rinse when I wash it it will help. It will also have 4 big round blue buttons.

I'd sort of like to put a blue hood on it, too, but I can't figure out how to put a hood on without having to sew!

I'm going to have considerable handpaint left over--lord knows what I'll do with it. Maybe there'll be enough to do another little jacket. OR-- I could take the whole thing apart and re-do the garter stitch at the bottom and the button bands, collar, and sleeve cuffs in blue.

Or not.
