It's been raining pretty much all day, complete with a lot of thunder and the occasional blinding downpour. It did, however, wait until after I'd fed the cats and bought groceries, for which I'm grateful, and there's been no gale-force wind. And now there's sun, so somewhere there's a rainbow.
Birds out in the grass and rain, getting dinner and a bath at the same time.
Timber doesn't mind rain, but Taenzer, my water-puppy, thinks she'll dissolve if she has to pee in the rain. Next time we get a break I'm going to hustle her out and get insistent..
The forecast is for rain all night and tomorrow, although the current radar picture shows things pretty clear out west of us.
I'm going to take a moment here to complain bitterly about PetFoodDirect. They carry every kind of food you could possibly ask for and it's extremely convenient to be able to order for the dogs and Annie at one time from one place. HOWEVER--
THESE GUYS ARE SLOWER THAN MOLASSES IN FEBRUARY
WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING
I ordered from them LAST Friday--that's actually a week from yesterday--and only yesterday got a post that they've shipped it and it's due to be delivered May 31. This is completely ridiculous. If I had ordered from Sitstay.com or NaturalPet.com or J&B Pet Wholesale, I'd have had all three orders by last Wednesday. Geez.
So I had to buy stuff to put on the Ts' kibble. Okay, yes, I admit it, okay? They're spoiled, and Taenzer won't eat the salmon oil caps and Missing Link unless I hide them in something else, and I usually hide them in Tripette. So I got a pound of hamburger as an extra-special treat--I'll give them each a quarter pound tonight, and the rest tomorrow. I also got some goats milk, which I'm delighted my local grocery store carries, and which they both like and which doesn't give them the runs, for later in the week. And I had to get Fancy Feast for Annie. (Okay, yes, I admit that, too: I'm a pet food snob. Totally. But as grocery store food goes, Fancy Feast isn't terrible.) She's preferring canned food mixed with a good deal of water these days, which I encourage since it helps her keep hydrated, and I used the last of the canned last night, so--Fancy Feast it is. She'll get a little pinch of raw burger, too--she'll like that--and probably a little milk.
I know what you're thinking. I'd save a ton of money if I fed these guys Ol' Roy. I'd save even more money if I had Chihuahuas. We'll take that as a given and move on, all right?
I got the sleeve openings done on the circular baby jacket and have another inch to go before I switch to garter stitch. I've been a bit casual with my math, so I'm holding my breath and keeping my fingers crossed (and let me tell you, it's not easy to knit that way) that it will come out more or less okay. I need to decide what color to do the sleeves.
I surely do like this yarn.

My vet said, why I didn't get CHihuahuas, my vet bills would be way smaller. The food? I give them Holistic Blend and a can of cut green beans every day. They usually don't get people food, unless we have pizza, they like the crust! They start salivating if I mention the word 'pizza'. ;o)
The Ts are, at the moment, getting Royal Canin GSD formula (with some trepidation after all the recalls), supplemented with salmon oil caps (originally for Timber, who has some mild allergies that make him itchy; his coat started looking so spectacular that I started giving them to Taenzer too), Missing Link, Tripett (so Taenzer will eat the supplements; also does fabulous things for their coats), and often a couple of tablepoons of yoghurt (also for Timber--keeps him from getting yeast infections in his ears). The Missing Link, Tripett, and yoghurt are also supposed to help with digestion, and after losing two GSDs to gastric volvulus, I'm seriously paranoid. I've read that some police and military dogs are getting one or two Phazymes with their food as a matter of course in hopes of preventing bloat, so I'm thinking of trying that, too. They get a lot of people food, too--string cheese, hot dogs nuked in the microwave, liverwurst, cooked chicken breast as training treats; ice cream as an extra-special treat for grooming and claw-clipping; peanut-butter stuffed kongs when the weather is bad; and yes, pizza. Like your two, mine start drooling when Mom says "Pizza, guys! We're gonna have PIZZA!" They like pepperoni. :)
