Rescue Remedy

Does Rescue Remedy work?

It does for Taenzer.

Both Ts have grooming issues. I'm teaching Timber to lie flat on his side for me to comb him, and so we had a session this afternoon. Oh, I was SOOoooooo careful not to pull at all, and I showed him the bowl of hotdog slices I'd prepared as a reward, and he was pretty cooperative. He's still very very ticklish around his last ribs, but I got the pinbrush over most of him and used the wide-toothed comb on some of him. He's shedding like crazy.

Taenzer doesn't mind being combed, but she's just totally phobic about her feet. I'm not sure why--she's been this way since she was a tiny puppy. I started clipping her claws as soon as I got her home, and we've done lots and lots of desensitization with ice cream and liverwurst, and it's still a battle with her front feet--she's getting better about her back feet. Today after a very bad start with one front foot, I backed off and gave her 3 doses of Rescue Remedy 10 minutes apart, then got the liverwurst.

She was still not a happy dog, but she fought me a lot less and it was much easier to do her front feet. I didn't try to get them short, just snipped the tips, but it was just so much easier that I'm going to try to remember to dose her with RR every time before we do feet.

I'm going to try to remember to give it to her before her next trip to the vet, too. If I can set it up as an early morning appt., I can give her two doses at home, and the 3rd in the van just before we go in. Maybe it will make the trip less stressful for her. I hope.
